UNIQLO CF Polo Park

UNIQLO logo in Japanese and English on a white background

Ahead of UNIQLO’s first store opening in Winnipeg, Moment Box worked with Toronto agency mac|comm to create a custom photo experience for two pre-launch events at CF Polo Park. Exterior branding, a custom interface, and printed photos brought the launch’s visual identity into an experience guests could take part in and take home.

From Tokyo to Winnipeg

UNIQLO’s “From Tokyo to Winnipeg” launch creative provided the starting point. Working with artwork supplied through mac|comm, we adapted the booth, on-screen experience, and photo frames to carry that identity throughout the activation.

The physical setup paired a fully wrapped booth with a custom-printed UNIQLO-red backdrop. Getting the colour right meant working beyond digital references. Multiple test swatches were printed on the actual matte vinyl used for production and compared against a physical Pantone reference before the wrap was produced.

The photo frames extended the same visual language into the take-home prints. The campaign artwork sat above the photographs, connecting each strip to UNIQLO’s arrival in Winnipeg.

Custom on screen, and behind it

The customization continued inside the booth.

We developed a branded interface using UNIQLO Pro typography, the approved campaign artwork on the start screen, and a red background in the capture preview. These details connected what guests saw on screen with the booth in front of them and the photos they would receive.

We also adapted the app’s behaviour for the event. Retakes were removed from the activation flow to help keep sessions moving and manage lineups. Filter selection was removed as well, keeping photographs in natural full colour.

Rather than simply adding branding to the standard interface, the work changed both its appearance and the steps guests moved through.

Two previews, one photo experience

The activation ran across two events ahead of the store’s public opening on May 15. The student preview on May 12 welcomed students from the University of Manitoba, the University of Winnipeg, and other local campuses. An influencer and media preview followed on May 13.

Moment Box handled setup, attended operation, and teardown, with a dedicated attendant supporting the experience on site. Unlimited instant prints gave guests a physical keepsake from the preview, while a branded digital gallery provided access to their digital photos.

From the exterior wrap to the capture screens and finished prints, the experience carried UNIQLO’s launch identity through each stage. Guests could leave with a photograph of their own moment in the brand’s Winnipeg debut.
